New NABP DDA (VAWD) Alternative Accreditation
We were recently informed by the National Board of Pharmacy about an alternative NABP Drug Distributor Accreditation (DDA) option now available.
New Alternative Accreditation Introduced
This new accreditation is beneficial for companies with an existing facility that is already accredited under the NABP Drug Distributor Accreditation (fka VAWD) but are transferring their operations to a new facility and want to reduce interruptions to existing operations.
Preoperational Inspection
Under the alternative accreditation program, the new facility will undergo a preoperational inspection by the NABP within 10-30 days of accepted application.
Application Submission
Once NABP determines the facility is eligible to move forward with the alternative accreditation, an application must be submitted for the alternative accreditation within 12 months of the inspection date.
Accreditation Timeframe
The NABP advises the facility will then be awarded the accreditation within 14 calendar days and will be granted for 1 year.
To remain accredited, and receive a full 3-year term, the facility must undergo a supply chain inspection within 6 months from the date of the accreditation and must be deemed eligible for the Drug Distributor Accreditation within 12 months.
